The inspiration behind the Q Street Fine Art is Barbara Bennett, her
lifelong artistic appreciation and enthusiasm for art. While
traveling worldwide as an international banker for 30 years, she was
always drawn to the unique art of each visited country, and also
studied art history in Europe under the guidance of Juan Antonio
Gaya Nuno, a renowned art critic, art historian and author.
Based in New York City in the late 1980's and 1990's,
Barbara attended auctions at Christie's and Sotheby's and took
courses at Christie's studying under Edward Sullivan, contemporary
Latin Art Scholar and historian. "For me art has always been better
lived alongside passion without concern for exclusively making money
off of it, but rather for the enjoyment of its beauty and message",
she elaborates.
"It was in 2006 when I first saw the art Rafael Gallardo whose
works were featured at the Venezuelan Embassy and at private
viewings", she says about the current show at Q Street Fine Art.
"I was so impressed with Gallardo's amazing and varied artistic
expression that I began to showcase his studio at Q Street and open
the location to the public, especially during the Dupont Circle Art
Walks on First Fridays. It was time to feature Rafael
Gallardo again on May 3, 2011 which marked the opening of Q Street
Fine Art". |
