WHITE LOOKS
GREAT ON EVERYONE!
BRIGHTEN YOU SMILE WITH A NEW SHADE OF WHITE!
Whatever important events that might being coming up in your
life, whether it be a wedding, and photo shoot, or an important
business meeting, bleaching isn’t just for the rich and famous
anymore. Many people have had their teeth bleached. Perhaps you
are one of the many thousands more who are thinking about it.
The desire to have a whiter and brighter smile is very strong.
Brightening up your smile with bleaching is safe and lasts for
up to five years.
Generally, bleaching is successful in al least 90% of patients,
though it may not be an option for everyone. Some of the reasons
that you might desire whitening would be that teeth are darkened
from age, coffee, tea or smoking. Results may vary on each
individual. We have found that teeth darkened with the color of
yellow, brown or orange respond better to the lightening. Other
types of gray stains caused by fluorosis (too much fluoride in
teeth), smoking, or tetracycline are lightened, but the results
are not as dramatic. If you have very sensitive teeth,
periodontal disease, or teeth with worn enamel, you may not be a
candidate to have bleaching done. You may need to consider
having your teeth crowned or veneered.
The first thing is to determine whether you are a candidate for
tooth bleaching and what type of bleaching system would provide
you with the best results. If you have the time, you may choose
dentist-supervised home bleaching, which is more economical and
gives you the same results. However, if time doesn’t permit and
you are in a hurry for whiter teeth, you may decide to have your
teeth lightened immediately. We will use either an in-office
bleaching system or laser bleaching while you sit in the dental
chair. Instant in-office laser whitening can be performed in
about an hour.
Depending on your personal habits such as smoking and drinking
coffee and tea, lightness should last from one to five years.
You may choose to get a touch up at this point, which may not be
as costly because you will probably be able to use the same
mouth guard that was used in the original process. The
re-treatment time is also much shorter that the original
whitening.
